It is 7.05 PM and minus 8 Celsius (17,6 F) , the full moon has risen and illuminates the mountains in the background, the Piz Arlas (left), the Munt Pers and the Diavolezza area. Along the banks of the frozen and snow covered Lake Bianco, around the bay of the Bügliet valley, the "Full moon special" of the Rhaetian Railway run at an altitude of 2250 metres above sea level towards the Alp Grüm , where passengers will enjoy a glacier fondue (a hot Swiss cheese speciality). The powerful LED headlights of the shoved track plow illuminate the line with their white light. To the right in the picture, the yellow light trail, comes from a car on the Bernina pass road. In the far background on the right you can see the light tracks of snow groomers preparing the slopes for the next day above Celerina in the Engadine. A 169 second exposure.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
