Veteran E8 4268, built to haul the long distance limiteds of the Pennsylvania Railroad, finished out its career moving commuters in and out of Boston for the MBTA. On a spring afternoon the 4268 and a mate waited for the evening rush hour at South Station at the head of a Providence local, while a set of RDCs idled on the adjacent track.
