Remarks & Notes
Amtrak E60CP 962 has taken over from an F40 on a southbound train at New Haven in the traditional engine swap at the east end of electrification, and will shortly be on its way to Penn Station and Washington. The massive 1920 station building in the background, which had been closed and needed attention when photographed in 1980, would be grandly refurbished and reopened in 1985.

Some are loved, others are hated. In the end, they are failures.
