Remarks & Notes
This little Penn Central train consisting of an ex-New Haven SW1200 and an old coach was informally known as the Jitney, and it shuttled the four miles between the New Haven passenger station and Cedar Hill Yard on the north side of town for he benefit of employees at shift change time. When photographed in 1971 it was one of the last two such employee accommodation trains left in the country; the other was on the Rock Island in the Silvis Shop/Quad Cities area. A long tradition inherited from the NH ended a couple years later as PC phased out operations at once-busy Cedar Hill.
