For a while,
RJ Corman stopped using the NS power from the 56K unit grain trains that are tied down for them on 5 West at Cresson, but recently began utilizing the NS units as run-thru power again. Two spectacular things happened since--a UP leader on the empty returning west over the PITL, and the N&W heritage unit going to Clearfield.
RJ Corman's Central PA operation is an interesting animal, to say the least. Comprised of ex-PRR and NYC track, the primary business is coal, except for the grain trains that go north out of Cresson via Ebensburg Junction. The track to Clearfield, while welded rail, apparently has numerous defects forcing 10 mph slow orders most of the way, as it takes an hour to go from this location (Westover, 8 miles north of Patton on PA 36) to Newburg (8 more miles). The line is apparently awaiting grant money for further maintenance, which I hope includes some new crossbucks to replace some damaged ones like the one seen here.
