What can happen when a freight train splits a switch. Workers can be seen carrying cartons of Schlitz Beer from a damaged box car. Many a bottle of brew from Milwaukee was snatched by members of the wreck repair crew and squirreled away in all sorts of convenient hiding places. Big hooks from both Detroit and Durand were at the site. That was back in the days when railroads cleaned up wrecks with their own equipment.
