In Funcheira stands an old railwaycrane alongside an Alco RSC2. It is the 1510 which stands there for reserve duties. Every day this reserve loco is changed for another, coming from Barreiro with Regional 3801. The reserve locomotive goes back to Barreiro the next morning with Regional 3800.
Since this photo was made, many things changed here. Electrification took place and the line to Beja was closed. Reserve engines are no longer needed. In 1998 a lot of staff was needed on the station, today it is unmanned.
