Remarks & Notes
BNSF L-CHI101-25 the Streator Turn has has arrive after making morning run to Streator, IL , to Galesburg. Now the crew is making a shove move back into the fuel rack lead at the BNSF Galesburg Engine Terminal. The power of choice on the Streator turn is a pair of D8-40BW's once the pride of the Santa Fe Superfleet. The inbound crew will drop the motors off where the shop team will take in charge of the locomotives by refueling, and doing other needed quick service on the units, before the next outbound Streator turn crew will go on duty later on. Between 1990-1992 the Santa Fe had order 72 of these 4 axles GE widecabs as part of the Superfleet that would reintroduce the popular Warbonnet paint scheme for promotion of business during the later years of the Santa Fe, and the D8-40BW's were a common sight on a lot of the hot Intermodal, and General Merchandise in those final years before the creation of BNSF. Some 21 years later old, and beat down, their presences on the BNSF Railway is still widely known, now down to 60 of these series, the newer and more powerful locomotives are now at the head of these hot intermodal train , and the D8-40BW are being use for lower priority trains such as local, and road switchers.
