Remarks & Notes |
On a hot late Aug morning TVRM 300 Chickamauga Turn is making it's way westbound down the Chattanooga Belt Line to 23rd St with the one of it's kinda TAG 80 running long hood forward. TAG 80 was the newest, and the last locomotive that was purchase by the Tennessee Alabama & Georgia Railway in 1968, before the small 100 mile class 1 railroad was acquired by the Southern Rwy in 1971. Tag 80 is sporting the John A. Chambliss name in honor of the Vice President who played a key roll into the TAG Railroad success. The Vice President name was stuck to the locomotive even in the GP38 years in Southern til the formation of the Norfolk Southern Corp in 1982. Today the locomotive is Restored in its old as delivered paint scheme and now it's a proudly part of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Historic Collection. |
