At dusk the Georgia Power Hammond Steam plant train NS 708 is taking on the hill just at Control-Point (CP) Hitt (MP-233.7A) on the main 2 track heading south into the dark Tennessee sky on the NS Atlanta North-End. The dispatcher has the train lined to Control-Point Ooltewah, where the coal bucket will have to come to a stop and meet two northbound that are coming off the NS Atlanta North-End, before the train get the signal to proceed south eventually getting to the Hammond Steam Plant in the early morning hours.
Railroading is a 24 hour a day business, that never sleep. From sunset to sunrise the railroad must run. These image are taken by some of the best rail photographer out their.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
