Remarks & Notes

The Rathdrum Prairie is a small but rich region of agriculture nestled between Coeur d' Alene, Idaho and Spokane, Washington. A wide variety of different produce comes from the prairie, and although the fields continue to be encroached on by growing housing areas, for now agriculture continues to be a significant part of the economy here. Just after sunrise on a late spring morning, a westbound freight is just getting up to speed after leaving Hauser Yard as it crosses the Idaho-Washington state line, passing a center pivot sprinkler helping keep this field irrigated. Water supply in this region comes largely from the Rathdrum Prairie aquifer.
