On July 18, Amtrak operated a special trip in conjunction with New England Central, CN and various government officials from the US and Canada, to inspect the route from St. Albans, Vermont to Montreal, Quebec. The train is seen crossing the Richelieu River at the Marina Rose des vents with Amtrak P42 101 leading a cafe car and the American View Viewliner theater car.
