Remarks & Notes
Recreating a rural branchline switching scene from the 1920s, Valley Railroad 2-6-2 103 runs around its train at Deep River, CT, during the excursion line's first month of operation in 1971. Engine 103, built by Baldwin in 1925 for the Alabama's Sumter & Choctaw RR, was the Valley's first operating steam locomotive. Today it resides at the Railroad Museum of New England.
