This gem of an old cogwheel steamlocomotive, named "Caspar Honegger", is 140 years old now. It was built in 1877 by Maschinenfabrik Aarau for the weaving machine factory of Honegger in Rüti, which had a rack connecting track to the station. The privately owned little engine weighs 15 tons, has about 125 HP and was in service for the machine factory Rüti till 1951. It was made operational by the owner during 16 years work, but has no permission for running on the mainline for several technical reasons. As you see clearly, the cogwheel is higher positioned then that of the Rigibahn, so it has no intervention to the rack rail. The locomotive was operational (adhesion) during the event for the reopening of the Rigibahn station (renovated elevated platform from 1897) in Arth Goldau, here it is standing on the traverser of the Rigibahn shed.
