A BNSF grain train loaded with corn from St. Cloud, MN to Kalama, WA derailed in front of one of the most photographed barns in rail photography about 6 AM May 1, 2017. 23 cars left the tracks with a number of cars tipped over and spilling. The accident closed the busy BNSF funnel between Hauser, ID and Sandpoint, ID for about 36 hours. This photo was taken just after the first train through the site passed through on main 2, about 730 PM, May 2. Main 1 remained closed at this time. Highway 95 was narrowed to 2 lanes with flaggers assisting traffic flow. To the left of the barn a pair of side-arm dozers can be seen. They had been used to clear the site and two work trains provided support.
