Remarks & Notes
A perfect summer day in the Inland Northwest is just getting underway as the Pend Oreille Valley Railroad's only GP9 crosses the wooden trestle over Kent Creek south of Dalkena with a short train of loads from Ponderay Newsprint in Usk, WA. My father and I have always felt like we're in a little slice of Alaska when around Dalkena thanks to its name sounding so similar to Talkeetna (though the scenery is not quite as spectacular).
