| It's a beautiful, spring afternoon in Betteravia as the Santa Maria Valley Railroad's town job switches out tank cars prior to continuing east into town. Following an overly wet winter, it was only a matter of time before seas of wildflowers like those seen here sprang up - adding an abundance of color to the hillsides of the valley that would normally just be dirt and weeds. Some 65 years since it was built (1952) for the Santa Fe Railway, ex-ATSF 2109 is "still kicking" as it currently serves as the railroad's main road power as the short line continues to see raises in traffic levels. |
