| A peaceful spring afternoon in 2013 finds rear end pushers on an eastbound CSX loaded coal train drifting by Ben Arnold's trackside home near Gate City, VA. The trains by here are much more scarce in 2017 due to the decline in coal traffic and the removal of through traffic from the nearby former Clinchfield Railroad. Mr. Arnold was always a pleasure to stop and chat with while watching trains pass by his home. Most visits found him either in his garden or tending to his beekeeping but he would slow down long enough to watch the trains roll by. |
