Remarks & Notes
After years of deferred maintenance, Milwaukee Road had to finally replace the first of three diamonds near Eau Claire Tower. This diamond was owned by MILW and served three purposes. First it was part of the former branch to Chippewa Falls, also used by Soo Line (note CNW signals protecting the branch in the background); second it was used as the entrance into Uniroyal tire plant; and third, this was also the connection between MILW and CNW. The two distant diamonds crossed CNW's mains, and were CNW responsibility to my knowledge.
