After completing the roughly 12 mile trip through the Royal Gorge, and a short layover at Parkdale siding, the Canon City and Royal Gorge passenger train heads east at Parkdale, Colorado, on June 3, 2011. The train is piloted by unique cab car, a former Canadian National/VIA Rail steam generator rebuilt into HEP generator No. 15462 that is equipped with a cab. This allows the engineer to switch ends at the end of the run, instead of running the locomotives around the train for the eastbound trip.
