With an unheard of consist for the first quarter of 2017, NS 945 waits it's turn in Atlanta, Georgia at Mecaslin Street for the Alabama Division East End District after arriving from Greenville, South Carolina. NS high hood SD40-2 Nº1625, built in September 1973 is one and the first of an 11 unit order from N&W, the following N&W SD40-2 purchases came with standard issue 81" low noses. This small eleven unit group is also the last of the high hood SD40-2 models remaining on Norfolk Southern's roster.
