LSRX 253, a one of a kind Morrison-Knudsen rebuild, is on lease to the Georgia Northeastern railroad as part of a project to lay fiber optic cable along the length of the line. I captured the 253 making a slow (as in I could walk faster than it was moving) crawl over the usually out of service portion of the line between Whitestone and Blue Ridge. This shot is at Cherry Log, GA, and shows a crewmember dropping sand on the rails to maintain adhesion as a heavy rain begins to fall. It's a good thing I had an umbrella and some clear zipper bags to protect my lighting gear!
