Into the summer sundown comes CNW 8616 with North Platte to Denver symbol ANPDV-12 on a warm July evening. Barely visible on the right are the rails of the Julesburg Sub that diverged here and joined the Denver to Speer, WY line (the DP) at La Salle, CO. It was once the through route for North Platte-Denver traffic that now operates via Cheyenne. A portion of this line was used by a Sterling-Julesburg local freight, and BN/BNSF dispatched the portion from Sterling, CO to Fort Morgan as part of its coal route from Alliance to Denver.
