Kanawha River Railroad/WATCO SD40M-2's 4221 and 4211, both rebuilt ex-Southern Pacific SD45's sit at the south end of Dickinson Yard in Quincy, awaiting their next road assignment. In the background, SunCoke's KRT Quincy Dock illuminates the mainline as clouds from a northward passing storm gather overhead. Quincy is one of three coal transloaders on the former NYC/NS West Virginia Secondary still actively loading trains, in a time when coal demand has been dropping but is slowly recovering.
From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
