Cuba City was located on the narrow gauge Galena and Southern Railroad which was acquired by the C & NW. General and then President Grant and his wife road the train several times from Galena, IL to Platteville, WI.
The town has a visitor center and displays dedicated to the history of the C & NW. The caboose is the center of the Presidential Courtyard and features President Grant who rode the original line.
