Remarks & Notes
GG-1s 4811 and 4886 are southbound at Aberdeen, passing the old PRR station at 18 East Bel Air Avenue on their way to Bayview or Potomac Yard. No concrete ties yet in 1978, and the 4-lane grade crossing is still open to traffic, protected by black and white striped quad gates. The 1943-built station still stands today, renovated by Amtrak in 1993, and it's a lot busier with the addition of MARC commuter trains. I wonder if the classic Penn Central Deepwater Green station sign was preserved. No. 4811 was built by GE for the PRR in July of 1935 and No. 4886 was built by Altoona/GE in March of 1939.
