| Late afternoon in Cajon Pass finds a pair of trains 'racing' up the western slope of Southern California's Cajon Pass. In the foreground UP 8094 west (north by Union Pacific's interpretation) works up grade on the former Southern Pacific Palmdale-Colton cutoff (today Union Pacific's Mojave Subdivision) with a train of Roseville bound empties. Down on the former 1st district of Santa Fe's Los Angeles Division (today BNSF's Cajon Subdivision), BNSF 4179 east is leaving Pine Lodge as it continues its march for the summit. |
