Catskill Mountain Railroad ALCO S-1 #407 skirts the banks of the Esopus River in Mt. Tremper, New York, as it shoves Extra 407 East - the Esopus Scenic Train - through Campground Curve and towards the Mt. Tremper Station and eventually, Boiceville. However this is the first day in 2016 that a train has traveled these rails, it may also be one of the last, as the Catskill Mountain Railroad has been fighting a battle with the County of Ulster and has seemed to have lost. Instead of rail service, the County is in favor of replacing the CMRR with a paved walking path. Though there is hope for the railroad, there is a possibility that it may be able to get another five-year lease with the county, and will hopefully continue to operate for at least the following five years.
New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.
From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
