Remarks & Notes

A westbound Burlington Northern freight passes through the North Dakota Badlands at Sully Springs on August 9, 1991. The train is powered by EMD SD40-2 No. 6926, mated with one of BN’s unique GE B30-7A “B unit,” No. 4043. BN originally had a fleet of 120 of these 3,000 h.p. cabless locomotives built between June 1982 and October 1983 and numbered 4000-4119.
