Remarks & Notes
Ten miles out of Denver, Rio Grande rear-end helpers F7A’s 5631 and 5734 dig in at Wolhurst, start of the climb to Palmer divide on the famous Joint Line. SD9 5313 and an F7B are hard at work on the head end. Familiar to generations of railfans, Wolhurst was once better known as the site of a rowdy gambling den and speakeasy. Gambling, now legalized in the form of slots and video, continues there today.
