With 35 loads of coal in tow, a pair of GE's catch the last glimpse of evening sun as they descend the Claypool loops on the original Nicholas, Fayette, and Greenbrier Railroad (NF&G) in rural southern West Virginia. The 35 loads will soon join the other half of the train in the C&O yard at Meadow Creek before operating east to Newport News, Va., as a unit train. This obscure coal branch is one of the most unique stretches of railroad in the state.
