The scent of fresh rain still hanging in the air from a thunderstorm system mixes with the labored roar of a westbound Union Pacific 'shooter', illuminated by a brief break in the clouds as it ascends Sherman Hill west of Bufford, WY. In a few miles the 8015' summit of Sherman Hill will be at hand.
