UP 5406 waits in the siding at Dike for the northbound Roseville. The Roseville bound manifest has been having a difficult day. After going into emergency, just a mere 20 cars south of Dike, they suffered com-loss with the DPU. They have just completed a rearrangement of their head end power, and have back against their train.
During this 30sec exposure I heard them FINALLY re-establish the connection with the DPU and begin their air test to proceed north. And just think... They've been on duty since roughly 13:30, and almost 3.5 hours later they haven't even cleared Dike, the second siding on their northward trek. All in a days work.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
