Remarks & Notes
PRR Metroliner Coach /Snack Bar EMU Car

The front end of one of the few remaining Budd built Metroliner EMU's (Electric Multiple Unit). This single powered coach/ snack bar passenger car was built in 1968 for service with the Pennsylvania Railroad and was gifted to the Railroad Museum in 1995. It achieved a speed of 164 mph roaring through Princeton Junction in 1968. Though designed for operation at 150 mph, service was restricted to lower speeds due to track conditions and operational issues encountered at such speeds. Of the 61 EMU's built (31 coaches, 20 snack, and 10 parlor cars) only a few remain today and can be found at Amtrak's Bear, DE facility. A non-powered version of the Metroliners are in service today. They are the 1975 built fleet of Amfleet I cars (492 built) and Amfleet 2's numbering 150 built in 1981. Not sure the reason behind the "6" number board as this is in fact, #860.
