The last U34CH built by GE is ready to depart on Track 5, as sister-unit No. 4162 idles alongside. The 4183 was purchased in 1978 by the New York MTA (later Metro-North Railroad) as part of their commitment to rail commuter service to Port Jervis, New York. It was fabricated from a damaged former Chicago and North Western Railway GE U30C (CNW No. 934.) The same dark blue "Bluebird" paint scheme was applied, as on the other NJ DOT U34CHs, except 4183 had an MTA logo on its nose, which is a bit faded in this photo, rather than the red E-L diamond that the 4162 wears.
