Remarks & Notes
Spectators gather at Bowmanstown, PA to catch the arrival of Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society's 2-8-4 Nickel Plate #765. A crewman with a neon safety vest leans out the vestibule to greet them as the mighty engine comes to a stop for servicing before continuing on to Allentown. Many thanks to Norfolk Southern in celebrating it's heritage and sponsoring these steam powered (and diesel free) excursions.

The Van Swearingen Brothers standarized freight power for their railroads with nearly identical 2-8-4 Berkshires. Two of these engines are still in excursion service.
