Charging south! There's no prettier picture of the WW&F than that of a classic 2-foot freight arriving in evening light at Alna Center Yard. Tonight's train consists of Boxcar 309, and Flatcar 118, both original pieces of WW&F rolling stock that survived 50 years in a barn in Connecticut. In addition, there's Flatcar 126, which was constructed by the museum, and Caboose 320, which was also constructed by the museum from plans drafted by the original WW&F. Leading the charge of course, is WW&F Locomotive #10, a 12-ton 0-4-4T Vulcan, which was originally a 30" gauge plantation engine. Although not an original Maine 2-footer, this engine has the basic configuration of a 2-foot Forney, and is an ideal locomotive for the museum's weekend excursion trains.
