| E25 in profile. Covered in dust and in very poor condition now, E25 is one of two remaining examples of the Class 1E electric locomotive. South African Railways electric motive power history if ever there was, E25 is pictured here standing in a disused Goods Shed at Danskraal / Ladysmith. Class 1E, E25, was built in 1923 by Swiss Locomotive & Machine Works. The Class 1E locomotives were the first electric locomotives placed in service by SAR. |
