In September 1975 a NSW Government Railways CPH Rail Motor passes Flemington West Junction having picked up workers from the State Abattoir at Homebush a few minutes before. The Abattoir eventually closed in the late 1980's. Along with the Abattoir, there was located a large brick pit and sale yards located over a 1600 acre area. The whole site was redeveloped in the 1990's by the State Government to become the site of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Originally built in the early 1920's, the CPH Railmotors remained in Government service until the mid 1980's, a number still operate today with heritage groups.
