Former Rio Grande coach No. 1012 sits in repose at Napa, California, on March 13, 2006. In 1960, Rio Grande bought eight of these ancient (built in 1915) Pullman-built coaches from Northern Pacific to supplement their own dwindling supply of heavyweight cars needed during peak seasons and Ski Train service. They lasted on the Ski Train until 1987 and were then sold to the Napa Valley Railroad, where the majority were totally rebuilt for the Wine Train. Looks like No. 1012 just became a parts source, along with several others heavyweight cars stored with on this spur at Napa.
