Off To The Races or Heritage on Heritage? The Southern Railway heritage ES44AC leads Triple Crown train 264 north through Varnell, GA at sunrise. Before arriving in Chattanooga, it would meet the Southern 4501 which was getting ready to enter the mainline for the first time in 21 years. I'm torn on what to title this picture, as the Kentucky Derby, the first race of the Triple Crown, is this weekend, and this is a Triple Crown train racing through a field that I'd seen four horses run through minutes prior. The other option has to do with the complete surprise of seeing this at dawn from Interstate 75 and capturing this piece of Southern heritage immediately before catching a much more iconic one.
