If you were planning on getting any of the ex-CB&Q search light signals along the Aurora Sub, then I would make your plans now. The BNSF is installing CTC to the double track ABS section from LaCrosse to Savanna. CTC is now in service from Lynxville (CP 2546) to CTC Graf, and all the old search lights have been removed. From Lynxville south, new stuff is in, but the old ABS signals are still in service moving trains. Currently they look like they are about to cut in the CTC from Lynxville to Prairie Du Chien next. BNSF seem to be working on the CTC project 7 days a week. In the photo is a set of ABS signals still in service north of Prairie du Chien while the new CTC signals are in and ready for service in the background.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
