SP was experiencing wheel lift of 90-ft. piggyback flat cars on curves in early 1964, so they placed cameras under one of them, coupled to fully-loaded ballast cars, to watch during tests at their Sacramento Shops on sharp curves near the Sacramento depot. Coupled at each end of test train were their powerful-at-low-speed Krauss-Maffei hydraulics
