On a blistering summer afternoon in the Idaho Panhandle, a quintet of orange GE's lead a hot westbound Z train out of the scenic Kootenai River Gorge, just east of the beginning of double track at Crossport. Just out of sight to the left is the UP's Spokane Subdivision climbing the cliffs towards Moyie Springs.
