Remarks & Notes
The daily Waterloo, IA, to Kirk Yard, IN, manifest train is only 18 miles into the trip out of Waterloo. Today's train has an unlikely leader due to CN's AC-DC power rule. When AC power is used in consist, anything without a traction motor protection system has to be in the lead so you can keep an eye on the short time ratings on the long grade. Since AC's don't have short time ratings, they can pull forever. This EJ&E leads a couple CSXT AC's near Independence on an evening that numerous thunderstorms are popping up.
