Remarks & Notes
Four car armored combat train "Štefánik" from World War II, built in september 1944 in a railway work in Zvolen, Slovakia, for the Slovak National Uprising against Germany. It is said to be the only movable armored train worldwide nowadays, not static displayed. The train was on display this day with steam locomotive 422.0108 (0-8-0 T) under steam. The locomotive dates from 1909 and was built by the Böhmisch-Mährische Maschinenfabrik (MMMF) in Prague for the local railway Nesamyslitz-Markowitz. The armored combat train was equipped with a 75 mm caliber cannon, two 37 mm caliber cannons and 10 machineguns of a 7,92 mm caliber and had a crew of about 70 soldiers. The train was on display in Baňská Bystrica on the occasion of celebration 70 years after the Slovak National Uprising (SNP, Slovenské národné povstanie). On the first car there are rail segments loaded for quick repair of damaged tracks and is also helpful if a mine is laid.
