The NS Erie heritage unit rolls down the Mohawk Valley a few miles east of Amsterdam in Upstate NY. The CSX main runs parallel to NY Route 5 from Utica to Hoffmans, sometimes very closely, as evidenced here with morning commuters pacing the EB loaded oil train. The Erie is in charge of a buffer, 98 loads and a rear buffer. NS 9944 trails.
