An arsonist is suspected of setting the timber-lined Douglas Tunnel ablaze in the early morning hours of Sunday April 27th. Douglas is on the busy former C&O (ex B&O) Sandy Valley & Elkhorn Subdivison around milepost CMN 6.5 in Pike County, KY. The line serves the TECO Myra Complex and Rhino Energy's Damron Fork mines, both heavy tonnage shippers worked out of Shelby Yard. The impact on a currently struggling Kentucky coal industry will be severe.
