In Montgomery, Alabama, in November 1974, Illinois Central GP40s 3034 and 3067 show off the colorful orange and white (with brown lettering) paint scheme. Note that 3067 has the optional L-windshield that is commonly associated with Southern Pacific diesels, showing that it wasn't just an SP option.
Photos taken in the Deep South--primarily Alabama and Georgia--from the 1970s to the early 2000s. Featured railroads include the ICG, the West Point Route, SCL, Southern, Frisco, and even KCS.
