Remarks & Notes

Amtrak's North Coast Hiawatha tiptoes over Homestake Pass just east of Butte, MT. This train and a BN local were the only traffic normally operated over NP's original Continental Divide crossing by 1974. Today, the track remains in place, but the line is out of service. Amtrak dropped trains 17-18 in 1979.
